For centuries Austrians have lived and worked in the mountain forest of Tyrol. Because of their rugged and lonely existence there was a need for communications between the mountains and valleys as well as a need for entertainment to pass the long winter evenings. Over the years a style of music and communications developed. Using simple working tools and the talents of the working people cowbells, yodeling, alphorns, saws and carved wooden instruments all became part of the Tyrolean sound.
